About Connwood
Connwood's staff are licensed and insured. Our professional foresters
have a combination of education and experience to make them fully qualified for
guiding landowners in the stewardship of their property.
Connwood has a staff of four employees and one subcontractor: four
professional foresters and one forest technician. We employ foresters
with high personal and professional integrity, and qualifications derived
from both educational and practical experience. We have combined
forestry experience of over 80 years. The following paragraphs provide
short biographies on the background, skills, and qualifications of each
employee. Resumes are available upon request.
Dave Beers (Winsted, CT) has a B.S. in Biology and Natural Resource
Management from SUNY ESF Syracuse and a Masters of Forestry from
the University of Maine. For five years prior to joining Connwood, Dave
worked as a forestry consultant in Connecticut for Ferrucci & Walicki,
LLC. Dave has also worked as a municipal wetlands enforcement officer
for the town of Washington, Connecticut. Dave enjoys teaching and
publishing about forests.

John O’Donnell (Middletown, CT) has a Masters and a B.S. in
Forestry from SUNY ESF Syracuse. For five years prior to joining
Connwood, John worked as a procurement forester for two Connecticut
sawmills. He was responsible for forest management, log procurement,
planning and supervision of timber sales, marketing of timber products,
and supervision of a forest technician. As a student, John researched and
helped manage the university forests and the forests of Fort Drum.

Gregg Cassidy (Harrisville, RI) has a B.S. in Plant & Soil Science and
M.S. in Forestry from University of Massachusetts/Amherst. Prior
forestry experience includes working as a Service Forester with Rhode
Island DEM and as a private consultant serving Rhode Island, eastern
Connecticut, and central Massachusetts. Special interests include
forestscaping and managing for alternative forest products.

Arl Selner (Middletown, CT) attended the Forest Technician Program
at Paul Smiths College of Arts and Sciences. He joined Connwood in
1967, and except for a short military tour in the late 1960s, has been
employed by the company on a continuous basis ever since. Over this
time, his responsibilities and duties have grown to the point that he carries
out most technical aspects of forest management activities.

Michael Riegler (Norwich, CT): has an A.S. in Forest Technology
from the New York Ranger School and a B.S. in Natural Resource
Management from SUNY ESF Syracuse. Prior to Connwood Mike
worked for NY State Sea Grant out of Oswego, NY Specializing in the
planning and protection of the Salmon River Corridor. Also, Mike is
certified through the Boy Scouts of America as a trek leader and guide.
Mike's interest are in land use history, recreational management, and
private land stewardship

Bob Haines - Subcontractor (Middletown, CT): Bob is the
owner/operator of Future Forestry, a fully insured forestry consulting and
logging company. Bob is also the caretaker of Connwood’s property and
Christmas tree plantation. Bob has a B.S. in Forest Management from the
University of Massachusetts. Prior to starting his own business, Bob
worked as a procurement forester.
